I am not sure what it is. Maybe it is because it is Monday, and I always feel a little bit off on Mondays, but I woke up with an impending sense of doom that my 26th birthday is in a month. 26 is old!! Last week, I went to my routine dermatology appointment, and I found myself almost asking about Botox. Whoa slow the breaks; I want to still be able to show emotion!!
For some reason, 26 sounds very adult, and currently, I don’t live a very adult life. My life mirrors that of a college frat boy. I have this notion that when I wake up on September 1st, I will magically be programmed to make adult decisions. I need to spend the whole month of August laying the foundation for my grown up life. Thus, I decided to make a list via my blog to hold myself accountable:
1) Stop eating Baked Lays for dinner. Ok yes, last week I ate an entire bag of Baked Lays for dinner. Why is that? I don’t have any real food in my apartment. I am going to start learning how to cook, and making myself real meals. Maybe I will even throw a dinner party, once I can ensure that all my guests won’t get food poisoning. How grown up is that?
2) Fold laundry. After years of working at Gap, I should know how to fold clothes in my sleep. The fact of the matter is I don’t. My laundry routine looks something like this: wash clothes and then, throw them into a pile on the floor.
3) Save money. There is nothing more adult than learning how to budget. I swear I throw my money away on the dumbest shit. No, I don’t need to buy another set of Hello Kitty glitter pens.
4) Decorate my apartment. Currently, my apartment is as sterile looking as a hospital room. I have nothing sentimental on the walls, I have no cool furniture, and everything is either black or white. I am going to change this starting NOW. I am actually going to create a “home” for myself.
Now that this is forever in the cyber world, it forces accountability, right?! It is time to stop living my life in utter chaos and disaster.
