What I Ate: Crawfish Shack & Oyster Bar

I have been really bad about posting this week. Part of the reason is I have just been so busy with work. The other part of the reason is I am starting to feeling a little confused as to the direction of the blog. I feel like this blog has two separate identities. On one hand, I have posts about all the things I do (What I Wore, What I Ate). Then, on the other hand, I have posts about other people (Career Confidential, 3 Things I Wish I Knew in my 20s). I love all of it, so maybe it doesn’t have to change. I just really like posting about things that inspire me.

That was a tangent to the real point of this post! So, my family is from New Orleans, and one of the biggest complaints about Austin is there are no good Cajun restaurants. We have tried to the majority of them, and while some are decent, there is always something wrong.

In honor of Fat Tuesday, we decided to try Crawfish Shack & Oyster Bar. Once again, this place proved my statement: the best restaurants in Austin are located in sketchy shopping centers.

IMG_2630I actually don’t really like crawfish, so I got the shrimp boil. It was so good.

  • hey girl! i’ve been thinking a lot about this post for the last couple of days. not the crawfish part, but the intro where you talk about this feeling like two different blogs. i would actually suggest that you treat them as two separate brands, because it gives you the most room to grow on both sides. the career/millennial oriented side reads like a publication with contributors and content that you curate. it’s a resource, more than it is just a blog. i think you have a lot of potential to make that really professional and useful to a lot of people. as for the more personal side, i think you have a lot of room to grow there too. it’s your space to experiment with content, photos, outfits, different series, analytics, etc. it seems like keeping them together as one really limits you and does feel disjointed to readers. ultimately, you don’t have to change anything, but it seems like splitting them into two gives you the most space and potential for greatness, in my opinion.

    i hope that’s helpful!
