3 Things I Wish I Had Known in My 20’s: Carolyn Aronson

Carolyn Aronson is the Founder, CEO and Owner of It’s A 10 haircare. She is one of the only female-owned professional hair care brands in the world and first indie-owned hair care brand to run a national Super Bowl ad.

A self-made entrepreneur, Aronson began her career with 20+ years as a hair stylist and salon owner, and continues to hold licenses in multiple states.  It’s a 10 Haircare was born out of her frustration with brands that produced dozens of products with single benefits and hard-to-follow claims. She envisioned a line that was for everyone and delivered full, salon-quality results in just one bottle. She began with a star product, Miracle Leave-In, and the line quickly rose to fame through pro hair stylists, who shared the cult-favorite product with their clients.

Now a successful, global hair product company with a passionate celebrity and consumer following, It’s a 10 Haircare products are sold in 25,000 professional salons and between 10,000 and 15,000 chains like Ulta, Regis and The Salons at J.C. Penney.

Yes, pretty impressive, we know! Today, she shares with us the 3 things she wishes she knew in her 20s: 

1.) ” This too shall pass”. You will survive much more than you ever thought you could. When you are young and in your 20s and things go awry, at that moment it seems very devastating but you would be surprised what you can live through.

2.) “Some of your best deals are the ones you did not make.” Don’t rush to do anything and trust your gut! When a deal falls through it usually ends up being for the best. Try to move past the disappointment and just keep your eye on the end goal. A vision and goal in the future is your biggest asset in business.

3.) When I was young saving was not a priority until my father taught me about it. Saving is preparation and preparation is the door that opens when opportunity comes your way. If you are not prepared, you may miss vital opportunities that are stepping stones to bigger deals. If you don’t have the funds to invest to grow your empire you may miss out. Growing starts by being prepared.
