While I love fashion, beauty is not my thing at all. I have pretty much been wearing my hair and make up the same way since I was in middle school (probably time for an upgrade). Unlike most of my friends, I never really get that excited when Mac comes out with a wild new lip color or Dior introducing their latest and greatest in mascara technology. Confession: I buy most of my beauty products at Target or at the drugstore; going to Sephora is my version of torture.
There are things that I just love in life: iced coffee, my dog, Harry Styles, reality TV, spinning and leather clothing (not in some kinky S&M way). If I could afford it, I would own leather pants, skirts, shirts, gym shorts (yes, they exist!), overalls, etc…you get the picture. Right now, I have leather pants and skirts, and if it were cooler outside, I would wear them everyday.
In my opinion, nothing makes you look more chic and put together than leather. For all the haters that say leather is only for skinny people, fuck off.
Okay, so it is cold today for Austin standards: 54 degrees and it is supposed to get colder! Brrr. I love it when it gets cold because it is opportunity to bust out some of my old jackets.
I know you are probably tired of only looking at me, so Mallorie (my awesome and fashionable intern) also shows off her “cold” weather duds.
Awww I know, we are cute! Just ignore that my hair is doing something crazy…thanks, wind!
As you saw before, my old NYC roommate, Alix Altit, made this awesome video with a healthy drink recipe. Now, she has created another video with a really great idea for an easy, healthy dinner…and I mean really easy…it takes her about 5 minutes to make the meal.
I know, I really hate cooking, mostly because I hate cleaning up the dishes after. I need more recipes like this in my life!
Here is a break down of her recipe:
Left over, plain roasted chicken with a spoonful of mustard or mayo Chopped up vegetables of any
Marine wives of TBS Bravo Company 2013 with the First Lady of the Marine Corp
This weekend was the Marine Corp Birthday Ball, which has me thinking about a couple of the most important groups in my life right now: The men and women who serve our country (Happy Veteran’s Day and Happy Birthday, Marines) and the amazing group of military spouses
Last night, I was definitely asleep by 8:30 PM. I am not sure why, but I was so exhausted. Needless to say, I woke up this morning full of energy. I went to a spin class, and I am pretty sure I pedaled faster than I ever have before; my poor legs.
I just checked my schedule for the week, and had a mini panic attack. I have a commitment everyday after work this week, and that stresses me out a bit. I need at least one (or two, preferably) nights
As I mentioned last week in this post, I always get a bit sentimental when someone I have known for the majority of my life fills out one of these Career Confidentials. This week’s is no different because I have probably known Rachel since middle school, maybe even elementary school? When someone I grew up with in San Antonio does the Q&A, it is interesting
When it comes to my spending habits, I have a major “YOLO” attitude; if buying something brings me joy in that moment, then I am all about it. My mentality has always been I work super hard for my money, and you can’t take it with you when you are gone, so why not spending, right?! WRONG.
Each month, I always make enough to pay all my expensive, but instead of, saving the rest, I find more things to buy. Between my daily iced coffees, frequent “just because” shopping sprees, and weekly happy hours with
By looking at me, you probably wouldn’t guess that I am actually pretty athletic. Last year, I completely my first half marathon (in SF) and I usually workout about 5-6 times a week. I don’t necessarily workout for physical reasons; instead, I hit the gym for my own mental sanity. If I don’t exercise, I become the Wicked Witch of the West.
My hour a day at the gym is my happy time, with no texts, e-mails, social media etc. I love spinning, and I would do that everyday if I could. However, my legs need a break sometimes, so
Every time I have a random thought, I always want to rush to blog about it. It is kind of annoying because I can’t concentrate on anything else until I released my feelings through a blog post.
I spend a lot of time consuming media, and this week, I noticed the headlines about Lululemon’s founder blaming his see-thru pants debacle on the shape of certain women’s bodies. I also noticed the stuff about Abercrombie now offering clothes in sizes larger than 10 (I am not going to WALK, but RUN to my nearest Abercrombie to stock up!!); yes, after their
