I love animals, so I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was younger. That was until I learned that vets have to take care of sick animals—sometimes very sick. My heart couldn’t take it. 2. Fast-forward several years/decades.
The navigational shopping site makes shopping trips stress-free by finding the stores you would be most interested in. Even I LOVVVVEE TEXAS. The main reason I love living in Texas = no real winter! Yes, it gets cold for a few days, just long enough to bust out my favorite coats and boots, but then it is back to warm temps. This time of year is perfect because its cool in the mornings, but warm in the afternoons. This allows for my favorite fashion combo: sweaters and sandals. When I lived in Boston/NYC, I hated the winters. The snow was pretty for a few days, but the appeal wore off quickly. The thing that annoyed me most about winters Well folks, I am sure you have heard the devastating news: Conde Nast (publisher of Vogue, Glamour, GQ, etc.) is ending their internship program at the end of the year. After a handful of lawsuits filed by ex-interns over violations of minimum wage and overtime laws, the company has just decided to not have interns anymore. Here is the full article on WWD. To me, this seems like an extremely drastic move. The fashion industry can’t survive without interns!! They do all the grunt work that everyone else is to glamorous to do. The end of internships Ok for anyone that knows me, I get obsessed with things really easily. Most of the time, I get obsessed with really stupid things that no one cares about. Case and point this new sweatshirt dress that I bought at Old Navy over the weekend. I can’t stop talking about it because it is the most perfect specimen of clothing. It feels like you are wearing your favorite over-sized, worn-in sweatshirt only it looks like a normal dress, so it is socially acceptable to wear to work. I wore it meet with a potential new client yesterday.
I keep promising more fashion posts, and then it basically doesn’t happen. Why doesn’t it happen? 1) I was not born to be a model. I had a very short lived, awkward career trying to break into the world of “plus size” modeling (definitely a story for another time). I hate poising and I laugh when people take my pic. Yeah, thank god I am good at PR because my modeling career would have never worked out. 2) I love fashion, but I hate getting dressed. Now, that she is actually in law school, it freaks me out I was going to wake up early, and get work done…didn’t happen. It is a rainy Sunday morning, so I have an excuse! I have just been sitting here for hours surfing the web, and I came across this NY Times article, “Four Executives on Succeeding in Business as a Woman,” by Adam Bryant. It is a long article, so I am here to make everyone’s life easier, by giving you the Cliff Notes version.
