Full name?: Michelle Elizabeth
Position / Job title?: CEO & Inventor of Effortless Extensions
Why did you seek out this particular job / start your company? Actually, I didn’t start out with the idea of starting a company. I had been chemically treating my hair for years and with all the damage, I had to cut it off and give it a rest. For me short hair was NOT an option, so after much trial and error with hair extensions on the market that did not work for me, I developed my own!
How has life changed (hopefully for the better 😉 since you landed this job / launched this company? It has definitely opened my eyes to Big Business, and the pitfalls that inevitably happen. I along with my business partner took all the necessary legal steps to protect this Unique design, but we have found that it has Not deterred large companies from “Imitating” our concept. I am not one to stand by and let it go, so you will probably be hearing a lot more from us! I will say that I love my Company and plan to here for the long haul!
And now: WHAT 3 THINGS DID YOU WISH YOU HAD KNOWN IN YOUR 20’S?
- I’m from a different generation, when phones were still corded and TV had just begun to be in color. In my 20’S I was was married starting a family and working in many different fields, you see I was a Military wife and we moved around the world several times. I think that I wished I could have seen into my future, and prepared myself for the business world. Knowledge is such an important tool, whether you get it from a college education or learning life’s experiences, I have taught myself a lot over the last 11 years, so the first thing I would tell my younger self would be Knowledge is Power!
- I believe that I would have tried to slow down and really appreciate the sounds of chaos in my house. I have 5 children and now that they are grown and have families of their own, I truly miss the sounds of laughter and even bickering that I didn’t realize how much I really DO Miss!
- Last, you sometimes take your family for granted especially when we are young, we never imagine life without our parents, siblings…….. I would have made different choices, spent more quality time with those I loved……
