Top 7 Favorite Moments from The Lady Project Summit

Okay, let me start of by saying, I apologize for the lack of pictures. I am obviously a terrible blogger because I quite honestly just forgot to take out my phone, and snap a few shots. I was trying to focus on the moment, duh!

Last weekend, I went back to Providence, Rhode Island for The Lady Project Summit (read about my experience last year, here). It was something I had been looking forward to for a long time, and luckily it once again didn’t disappoint. I had a great time, probably even better than last

Quick Tips for Getting PR

We all know that hiring a PR firm can be expensive. If you’re a start up or a small business you might not know if it is worth the money. And while I always recommend PR if you can afford it, I can still offer a few tips to gain media attention on your own.

Events

This is one of the easiest and most straight forward ways to get media attention mainly because you don’t have to come up with a story idea. The event itself is the story. Also, when writing your pitch you can just use the details

It’s That Dreaded Time of Year: Tax Season…

I am terrible when it comes to money. My parents are great. They save, they plan ahead, they live within their means… Not to mention both of them are CPAs. In the past I have made little to no effort at these things, but I do take them into consideration more and more as I get older.

When it comes to my spending habits I’m very aware of the areas I need to cut back on: meals out, Starbucks coffee or that extra pair of shoes. And while being aware has helped me take steps (fancy steps, I might add,

Re-Defining the Meaning of Success

Let me caution you first. This blog post is going to be more of rant than anything else. Mostly because I have been thinking about this a lot: What does success look like to me? It is a tough question.

A few years ago, if you asked me what I would need to achieve to consider myself successful, I could have answered right away. My life would look something like this: nationally recognized in the business community, making lots of money, traveling the world for business. I wanted a fast paced, exciting life. What was missing from the picture? All

How to Become Your Brand

While it may vary from business to business and industry to industry, these days the age of social media has turned the leaders of companies into a brand in and of themselves. Social media has not only allowed for businesses to get more personal, but it has opened up direct interaction between business leaders and customers. In recent years the public has eaten this up, loving the opportunity to get an inside peak at companies, see what’s going on behind the scenes and feel more involved with the products they love. But it can get confusing when the lines between

Check out what is new in 2015!

So my PR agency, fifteen media, is launching a few new workshops for 2015! I couldn’t be more excited to expand this part of my business, especially because these workshops are my favorite part of what I do. It also goes back to my resolution of doing more of what I’m good at, and less of what I’m not.

FOR PR FIRMS

We now offer team pitch training for PR firms, the kind that helps whip clients and products into irresistible stories. This is a great workshop for the new publicist and a refresher for those

2015 New Year’s Resolutions

I am a big believer in setting goals on this blog. I’ve always felt that if I put something out into the universe I will be held more accountable. I think writing something down, especially in a public place, puts more pressure on you to get it done!

When I look back at 2014, there are definitely things that I feel like I could have done better or things that I could have focused on more. But, that is what New Years Resolutions are for, right?!

Not all of my resolutions are negative, some are things I succeeded in this

Reclaiming my mornings…

I think I am writing this post because I feel a little guilty. I have been the number one advocate of mornings. I feel like I am always preaching that I can be so productive because I wake up early and get stuff done. However, lately I have fallen off the wagon, so to speak, and I can definitely feel it.

Maybe it is

Reflecting on 2014…

OMG, WTF I can’t believe it is December! Where did the year go?! Part of the reason for my December Denial has to be the weather. Thanksgiving weekend was the 70’s and it hasn’t gotten much colder since.

This year has been a whirlwind. When I think back to where I was in January to where I am now, it is crazy. I am a nostalgic person, so when I sat down to write this blog post about all that has happened I got a little teary eyed.

Not to sound corny or lame (okay this is really sappy), but

Folks, it’s that time of year again! All of the sudden the weather is cooler and pumpkin spice lattes are back! Hooray! November really marks the beginning of the holiday season, which is definitely good and bad. I obviously have mixed feelings about this time of year.

I love the holidays. Everyone seems nicer, I get to finally wear boots and sweaters, and its’ a great time
