Yes, this is another “Dear Diary” type post. Yes, I have become a typical gen-y female whining constantly about her love life (or lack there of). Yes, I know it is extremely annoying. Yes, I know, I am probably the reason I am still single. Okay, I have to do a blog post about my date, so I can get it off my chest, and move on with my day. After taking a major break from online dating, I decided to re-activate my OkCupid profile a few weeks ago. So last night, I met up with a fellow that I If my kids choose not to go to college, I might be more proud of them that way. If you’re shocked and appalled, bear with me here… My husband and I have been talking about the value of trade schools. We’ve been talking about them in the sense that we’d like to encourage our future kids to consider a trade school if it makes more sense. More generally, we were talking about how great it would be for the general public to stop devaluing the path to a well-paying blue collar job instead of glorifying a debt-laden education. It’s not I don’t know if you are like me, but when it is actually time to eat, I can never think of anywhere to go. I like to post these restaurant reviews on Friday…just in case you need somewhere new to try this weekend. A few weeks ago, we tried Xian Sushi and Noodle, after reading a review in the local newspaper. I love noodles of any kind, and this place claims to be Austin’s “first hand pulled noodle bar”, so I definitely wanted to check it out. ADDRESS: 1801 E 51 St Bldg C 370 Austin, TX 78723 Since I have been trying to save money, I haven’t been shopping in the typical sense. However, I have been shopping in my closet. Meaning, I have been pulling things out that I haven’t worn in years, and trying to re-purpose them into new outfits. This dress is one of those things; I can’t even remember the last time I wore it.
I was pretty excited when I received an e-mail about financial columnist, Kimberly Palmer’s new book, The Economy of You: Discover Your Inner Entrepreneur and Recession-Proof Your Life. As soon as I saw it, I knew I needed to get in touch to see if she could share her wisdom with us! Her whole book is about turning your hobbies (or entrepreneurial side gigs) into income making machines. This is probably the #1 question I I have always been a worrier; I can’t even remember how many times my dad has repeated this quote to me: “Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but doesn’t get you anywhere.” I can’t help it! Worrying about things that never actually happen is just part of who I am. In some ways, I think worrying helps me to get things done: I worry about my clients’ deadlines, I worry about not having enough media placements, I worry about growing my business, etc. However, a lot of the time worrying is really just I am backkkkk! Okay, well technically I was always here, but I have been really unmotivated for the last few weeks. I hate the feeling of going through the motions without any excitement. Anyways, I had a pretty stellar weekend (hope you did too), and I woke up this morning with a renewed sense of enthusiasm. Since I wasn’t really feeling it, I haven’t spoken that much about all the exciting things that I am going to do in 2014. Hiding I wanted to do this post right before the weekend; in case, you were looking for a new place to try out. Let me start out by saying: I have this weird hatred of “cool” places that are located in malls. In my opinion, malls are made for shopping, and the only time you should be at a mall is when the stores are open. They are not made for living or hanging out. However, last weekend, I was meeting up with a friend, and we needed a place that was easy for both of us to get to. We I like to write about things that inspire me. This morning when I was listening to my favorite radio morning show, The Bobby Bones Show, I heard something that was actually incredible. Amy, one of the co-hosts, has periodically shared stories about her mom’s battle with cancer. It went away, came back, went away again, then came back again. I guess right before the holidays, they found out that the cancer had come back in a more aggressive form. Other than, experimental treatment there is nothing left to do. She just shared this last bit of devastating news |
