It’s official! The Mister and I have paid off our last loan – at age 24!
This is what it feels like to be debt free I never had any debt until I was married. I made it through school without needing any loans (due to the longtime gift and support from all of my family). My husband received a lot of scholarship help When it comes to clothes, I usually stick to a pretty neutral color palette. However, I am pretty much obsessed with a good orange + blue combo. In the same day, I bought this sweater from Gap (on super sale!), and a skirt with the same hues.
So earlier this week, I went to check out the new Teysha store on S. 1st. If you aren’t familiar with the brand, you really should be. While traveling the world, co-founders, Sophie and Travis, saw the damaging impacts of poverty and deforestation. They believed that social entrepreneurship, conscious capitalism, and micro-finance were the most effective tools to empower people. Thus, Teysha was born to help give artisans around the world more opportunity. The artists make beautiful, hand-crafted belts, shoes and hats. When I was younger I bought an American Girl book about throwing slumber parties. It was one of my favorite things to flip through and got me super excited for my birthday to come around. If you remember super fun birthday times when you were younger, they usually involved renting out bowling alleys, skating rinks, movie theaters, pizza places, etc. Well, we didn’t have much money growing up, so I was always doing the at-home cheaper DIY options and having that American Girl book made it way more fun. I recently received another book about party planning that is perfect Happy Sunday! I hope the weather is better where ever you are. After a few splendid days of sunshine in Austin, it is back to being rainy and cold. BUMMER. However, the good news is I can wear all of the sweaters that I have been purchasing at end of season sales. It is definitely a good day to stay in bed, and write blog posts! I didn’t know I was on a mission to find the perfect LBD, until I saw this one. It was love at first sight! I now understand why Getting up to write is difficult these days. Recently, I don’t have a lot of motivation to get myself to a computer and focus on writing words – and, you know, not getting lost on Buzzfeed, Facebook, and other stupid noise. I have found my ticket out of the funk though. Another fellow Marine wife here also needs to get her writing butt in gear, so we’ve decided to conquer our procrastination together and meet once a week to write and make sure we’re getting work done. Haha if you haven’t noticed, the titles to my posts are always very uncreative. I don’t know, but I have a hard time coming up with cutesy titles, so I just pick something super literal. I mean, at least you know what the post is going to be about. So yes, in this post I am wearing a plaid shirt. This shirt is another one of those thrift store finds that has proven to be a great purchase. It is a men’s Ralph Lauren shirt that I scored for under $5 at Goodwill, and I wear it all the time Somehow, I got to baking a lot the past two weeks which meant massive amounts of dough/batter in a short amount of time. Very briefly, I’m going to share with you just a couple of quick fixes that really helped speed the process along: Grated Butter The worst part about baking is realizing I have to cream together some damn butter and sugar, and forgetting to let the butter out to sit to get to room temperature. Not a problem anymore. I just grate the butter now, which softens it and makes it much easier to cream anyway. If I could wear leather pants and 4 inch heels everyday, would I? Most definitely. However, the reality is, sometimes I need to actually function in the clothes I am wearing. So, I wore this outfit last Monday because I needed a major pick me up after my vacay. Yes, going back to work can be a major buzz kill! If only, I could live a jet set life…Joking, joking. I am pretty happy to be back at work because I have some exciting things going on. I can’t wait to share them later in the year! |
