Maybe I am biased because Katie is my bff, but I thought her Career Confidential answers were filled with such valuable gems that I decided to break it up into two parts (check out part 1 here). I just couldn’t bring myself to edit it down and risk the chance of missing some real advice. We are all trying to figure out how to balance all the things we love in life. In this week’s column, we chat with one of my best friends, Katie Amey! I couldn’t I know it is cliché: I have been trying to start this blog for quite a while now. I always had a million excuses for why I couldn’t: “I am too busy with real work”, “I don’t have time”, “It probably won’t get anywhere”…blah, blah, blah. One day, about a month ago, I said, “fuck it, it is time to do what I really want”. Thus, NeonNotebook was born! MAJOR guilty pleasure = Taylor Swift. Yes, I love her! Her song “22” has been my jam lately; I can’t get enough of it. She perfectly describes the days when you just need to “forget the deadlines”, and hit the dance floor. This weekend, I totally had one of those moments. My best buds and I hit the club, and totally tore up the dance floor for hours. It was exactly what I needed. Part of you feels an impending sense of doom: what will I do without a meal plan? where will I get guidance without office hours? what will I do without my parents credit card? Let’s be real the latter Can I just say I am obsessed with Sheryl Sandberg’s new book/message, Lean In? This might be a lofty statement, but Sandberg’s “Lean In” Movement is the Seneca Falls Convention for Gen Y gals. She is like Elizabeth Cady Stanton with access to the Internet, and a great wardrobe. Back then we were fighting for voting equality, and today we are fighting for a fair chance at work. There is no doubt about it: she is a ROCKSTAR. It is sad, but true: women jeopardize themselves in the workplace before they even get started! I have been especially I don’t even have a real blog, and I already suck at being a blogger. I officially started writing this post in July 2012 (right before my 25th bday). Then, I made it my New Years Resolution to blog more, but that hasn’t worked out so well either. Better late than never seems to be my official motto. So now, as a one-third of the way through the year resolution, I am going to start recording my journey to world domination.
