7 Fall Fashion Trends

It may still be sweltering outside, but your favorite stores are already stocking up on the latest fall fashions. So, what’s on trend for the new season? We have the seven must have trends you’ll want to know before you update your closet.

Red- Say goodbye to neutrals and start embracing this season’s power color, red. From dresses to boots to coats, this hot color was featured as a focal point in multiple Fashion Week shows.

Winter florals- Believe it or not, your favorite spring print is being repurposed for fall. Designers changed up the typical cherry print by pairing bright flowers with darker shades and texture. Designers like Gucci, Oscar de la Renta and Erdem all had flowers at their fall shows.

Puffers- A big puffy coat may not seem super glamorous, but it seems to become fall’s must-have coat! Stay warm and trendy in updated versions of the classic coat- think shocking colors, creative color blocking and furry details.

Athleisure- The athleisure look is here to stay. Designers updated the classic track suit into a more fashionable, polished look for the fall. By using fabrics like suede (seen at Chloé) or turning traditional track pants into skirts (Versace), it seems the high fashion  world is reinventing athletic wear.

Velvet- While many people may stray away from velvet, designers are crushing on the plush fabric. Seen on multiple runways in every color of the rainbow, this plush fabric will be seen everywhere, especially in eveningwear.

Political statements The fashion community is taking a stand and expressing themselves in quite a direct way. Even overseas, designers showed shirts with statements like “Our Minds, Our Bodies, Our Power” (Prabal Gurung) and “Make America New York” (Public School).

Understated plaids- Designers took a page from the 70’s and used muted plaid prints in a wide variety of ways. From a plaid evening gown at Jenny Packham to printed sweaters from Tory Burch, its easy to find a way to add this retro trend to your fall wardrobe.
