It can be easy to get in a rut when you’re in the same place or routine for a while. We believe one of the best ways to refocus is to unplug on a relaxing vacation. However, it can be difficult to get time off and plan a lengthy vacation in order to recharge your batteries. We’ve done some research to find beautiful, relaxing destinations all in close proximity to Austin. Get ready to unwind without sacrificing a lot of time!
- Lake Austin Spa Resort– This beautiful all-inclusive resort is only 30 minutes from downtown Austin. Lake Austin Spa offers guests daily activities, such as yoga, hiking and dance classes, as well as a 25,000 square-foot spa with over 100 spa treatments. On top of that, Lake Austin Spa is known for amazing food that’s health conscious. This destination will help you feel recharged and rested before heading back to the office.
- Fredericksburg, Texas– If you love wine, this place is for you! An hour or two drive from Austin, this charming town has quaint restaurants (we like Otto’s and Vaudeville) and unique shopping. This is also a great spot to check out Texas wines. Take the 290 Wine Shuttle to “hop on-hop off” around all the vineyards located in Texas Hill Country. We recommend Grape Creek Vineyard and Becker Vineyard for pretty scenery and delicious wine. As far as accommodations, Fredericksburg has plenty of bed and breakfasts and AirBNB options.
- Serenity Farmhouse Inn & Resort– Just a 45 minute drive from Austin, this resort offers beautiful views of the Texas Hill Country. The resort has a wide range of room sizes, from cottages to suites to even a guest home if you have a large party. Resort amenities also included manicured grounds, a pool and hot tub, and a spa noted for great massaged. A great option for a weekend getaway or bachelorette party!
- Magnolia– You may have heard of Magnolia Market, but did you know there was a Magnolia House rental as well? Located in Waco, Texas, the market is run by Chip and Joanna Gaines from HGTV’s “Fixer Upper.” The home has a maximum occupancy of 8 people and cannot be rented on a room-by-room basis. The house has a two-night minimum, but staying here will give you the full experience of the unique charm the Magnolia Market has to offer.
- Brackenridge House Bed and Breakfast– Located only a short walk from both the Riverwalk and the Alamo, this cozy B&B offers a more unique version of San Antonio. This charming hotel is located on a residential street and features a hot tub and communal living rooms for guests. The Brackenridge House also offers a delicious three-course breakfast, which may even leave you full until dinner!
- Enchanted Rock State Natural Area– If nature is more your thing, Enchanted Rock makes a great day trip. Enjoy 11-miles of hiking and rock climb. Enjoy the beauty of the pink granite and disconnect from the rest of the world for a while.
We hope these locations will provide you the perfect opportunity to unplug and unwind on a quick weekend getaway. Time to call up your friends and plan a trip!
