While cooking can help you control how healthy your meals may be, there are many restaurants and cafes in Austin with easy and nutritious options. We’ve rounded up a list of multiple places throughout Austin to get your health-food fix.
Snap Kitchen– One of our most favorite places for easy and clean eats is Snap Kitchen. With six locations in Austin alone, Snap Kitchen serves up microwaveable meals crafted by chefs for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have multiple mouthwatering options, like lightened-up versions of comfort food favorites like meatloaf and mac and cheese. They also cater to any type of dietary need, so whether you’re vegan or trying Whole 30, you can find something. Snap Kitchen offers fresh juices, which can be combined to create a juice cleanse. Overall, Snap Kitchen is a convenient option since their meals involve no cooking, but are portion-controlled and low in calories.
My Fit Foods– Similar to Snap Kitchen, My Fit Foods also offers a multitude of microwaveable, calorie-controlled meals. The store has five locations as well, making it easy for nearly everyone. Even Target and HEB carries some of their meals! My Fit Foods’ also lets you shop by protein or dietary attribute as well, which helps for eaters with dietary restrictions. Many of My Fit Foods meals are more protein-based than Snap Kitchen, so its ideal if you’re trying to gain muscle or are working out a lot!
Picnik– If you’re a paleo-devotee, Picnik is the place for you. Known for their butter coffee, Picnick also boasts many bone broth options, which is now trending for its immunity-boosting benefits. However, even if you’re not on the paleo diet, Picnik sticks out among other Austin restaurants for its emphasis on quality, real ingredients. For example, all of Picnik’s menu items are free of gluten, corn, peanuts and soy. This grab-and-go concept has two Austin locations. Their brick-and-mortar location, on Burnet Road, offers a more expansive menu than their food trailer on South Lamar, but you can enjoy multiple options at both.
Blenders and Bowls– You don’t have to live in California to get in on the acai bowl craze- look no further than downtown Austin. With two current locations and one in the works, Blenders and Bowls in smoothies and acai bowls. Their Westlake store also has oatmeal and Greek yogurt options, making it a great stop for a light breakfast or lunch. All bowls can also be made gluten free, vegan or paleo. Acai also has the most highly packed concentration of antioxidants compared to any other berry, making it a great choice to help benefit your overall health.
The Soup Peddler– Clearly, this restaurant offers warm soups, but their menu also boasts healthy fare like salads, smoothies and juices. You can even order ahead online so your food will be waiting for you at any of their four locations. You can also stock up on their soup in large containers, making it an easy heat-and-eat meal during busy weeks!
All of these options are super quick and good for you, but are also delicious! Next time you’re too busy (or maybe even too lazy-we won’t tell anyone), turn to one of these restaurants for some yummy and healthy eats!
