This is going to be a short, random post. If you want me to be completely honest, I am not in the mood to write, and I really want to spend my Sunday afternoon sitting on the couch watching Orange is the New Black! I haven’t had a chance to watch any of the new season!
However, I felt the need to do a brief recap of the past few days. We completed our first two BizGlam workshops for SA Youth!!!! As I am writing this, I still can’t believe it.
The anticipation leading up to the workshops definitely started to take a toll on me. I was extremely nervous about how they would turn out, but now that they are over, I feel so relieved. One of the workshops went well, and one didn’t go so well (it was pretty much a crash and burn), but I am already excited about doing it again this week.
With all the trials and tribulations, I think by the end of the summer, we will have a pretty bad ass program.
While there is definitely room for improvement, I decided that this post should focus on the positive. Here are some good things that happened over the last few days + what I am looking forward to:
- Hanging out with kids is way more fun than sitting on my computer answering e-mails all day. Even if Glamtrepreneur doesn’t become the business that I want it to, doing these BizGlam workshops is fun. It is nice to step away from my computer for 2 hours, and make glow-in-the-dark bracelets. I do hope the girls that attended the workshops learned something, but I think that they had fun, and that is what really matters.
- Now that the pop-ups are up and running, I can move on to the next step. I am not exactly sure what that is, but I am excited to find out. The goal is to create a multi-week curriculum where the girls can actually make a real business, so it is time to start brainstorming how to make that happen.
- While working on Glamtrepreneur, I sometimes got frustrated because I felt like no one understood what I was going through. Or no one really understood the vision (part of this is my fault for not being good at explaining it). I realized that I was wrong about a lot of stuff, and I am grateful pretty much for everyone in my life that takes the time to care. Y’all are the BEST. Oh and also, not to get too sappy, but I am super appreciative to all the people that help me make my ideas a reality. Once again, I am sometimes not great at communicating my vision, so it is amazing that you guys can figure it out.
- It is nice to be passionate about something. Don’t get me wrong, I do like doing PR, but Glamtrepreneur is different. I hate myself for even saying this because it is corny, but it has given me some kind of purpose. I don’t know how it will turn out, but for the time being, I am pretty stoked to see what happens.
