Finding time to squeeze in a workout can be a bit of challenge especially if you have a demanding work schedule. There are few key things to remember, by making simple life changes you will be able to achieve a decent workout everyday. For example according to the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services by simply omitting the elevator from you daily routine and taking the stairs you are making strides to a healthier version of yourself. You can burn up to 45 calories daily by climbing three flight of stairs three times a day, do that at least three times a week and that’s 135 calories! So what are some other ways to get fit during the workday? If you don’t have a treadmill desk, below I have listed other workouts you can do easily do between meetings.
If your desk cannot support your body weight you can always perform a wall push-up instead. Sneak 3 sets of 8-12 repetitions throughout the day.
While reading emails extend your arms and perform shoulder circles to tone your shoulders.
–Desk Chin-Ups
Make sure your desk can support your body weight, the last thing you want is the desk toppling onto of you. This move should be saved for those that get to the office before everyone else; it’s not the most easily disguised workout move. Challenge your self and do as many reps as you can in proper form.
Tip: Grab a chair without wheels to avoid injury! If your chair has wheels but has the capability to lock them in place you should be okay!
-Walking
Have a big office? Take laps around the office! Print your documents at the printer furthest from you. Go the long way to the restroom, you will begin to get creative and figure out how to make your workday work for you!
