A couple of years ago, a movie called Limitless hit the theaters. The main character was offered a pill that would make him “limitless,” and it gave him the ability to do anything he desired: learn languages, succeed in business, get fit. And he accomplished all of those things.
If you were offered this pill, would you take it? Would you choose to be limitless?
After thinking about this question, I realized that we are all already limitless. Anything we want to do, anything we want to have, we can. If I want to learn a language, I can. If I want to get more in shape and in better health, I can. If I want to be more successful, I can.
There is no pill for this, but the ability to be limitless is already there.
Here are some tips to help you reach and exceed your limits:
Get Clear – In order to be limitless you have to know where you want to go and what you want to accomplish. Start by creating a life list, the things you want to have, do, be and give.
When John Goddard was a teenager he started his life list. He identified over 165 items and began to check them off, one at a time. By the age of 55 he had already accomplished over 60% of the items on his list. He used to think most things were not possible, now he sees all is possible. Be like John and use your life list to fuel your passion to become limitless.
Create a mindset of Abundance. Our mind is powerful and we create what we expect. When you believe you are limitless, you create a world without limits. You expect greatness. You create personal power Use affirmations and vision boards to create a platform to re-program your brain and to help you believe in a life without limits.
Get uncomfortable. Eleanor Roosevelt said “do something every day that makes you uncomfortable”. In order to grow you have to do things that are scary and unsure; you have to break through the limits you see in your mind. Start small with maybe talking with someone new or taking on a new hobby. Then build up to things that are more bold and daring. You want to become limitless – get out of your comfort zone.
Surround yourself with Greatness. You become the product of the people you spend the most time with. Are those people holding in your limits or pushing you past them? Surround yourself with people who believe in you and know you are capable or great things. Share your goals and dreams with them and ask them to push you and support you in your growth. Your dreams are limitless – make sure those around you believe that too
Learn Daily – you are either growing or dying. To be limitless you must expand your mind and way of thinking. Take time each day to learn – read a book, listen to a podcast, attend a class or webinar. You can learn a new thought process, tips on business and personal growth, a language or even a new skill. The world and information are at your fingertips. The more you learn, the more you grow. Just a few minutes a day is all it takes to expand your mind and grow limitless.
Becoming limitless is possible, and you don’t need a pill to make it happen. It’s in the daily choices you make; it’s in the people you associate with; it’s in your inner desire to be your best. Becoming limitless will take work and dedication and passion, and you will have to do this work every day.
Sometimes your greatest limit is you. Today make the choice to be limitless.
