As a follow-up to the lamp I gussied up with a little decoupage, I give you a nightstand to place it on. No hardware required. This is a project that can fill any crafter’s desire. All you really need to know are the materials I used to construct it, then you can be on your way… Materials: Wooden crate from Michael’s Crafts (I used one of the 40% off coupons you can find online for this) 4 Wooden blocks (2″x2″) Wood glue Mod Podge Sponge brush Book pages or other paper materials to decoupage I was going to wake up early, and get work done…didn’t happen. It is a rainy Sunday morning, so I have an excuse! I have just been sitting here for hours surfing the web, and I came across this NY Times article, “Four Executives on Succeeding in Business as a Woman,” by Adam Bryant. It is a long article, so I am here to make everyone’s life easier, by giving you the Cliff Notes version. I think each of the four women interviewed gave killer advice, so below are my favorite tidbits. Amy Schulman (Pfizer): Executive I have been doing a lot of speaking at PRSSA chapters around the country; it has seriously been awesome to see so many people excited about PR. Honestly, before I started doing these speaking gigs, I was going through an “over it phase”. When I woke up each morning, I just wasn’t all that excited about my job anymore. This is really bad when you own your own business, and a major key to success is being positive and energized. Needless to say, talking with college students that are excited about their careers is REALLY infectious. I have been getting I am a very unorganized person. I have always been, and I probably always will be. To me, organizing and cleaning seem like a waste of time. When I have a few extra moments, I could watch all my TiVoed episodes of Real Housewives or I could be a responsible adult, and organize all my business files and clean up my apartment. I will give you one guess about which one I always pick. With that being said, I am always looking for easy ways to keep my life organized. The reality is if I continue to grow my business,

For a good five years, I was convinced that I would grow up to become a princess (until my parents informed me that, despite telling me I could be whatever I wanted, I I am all sorts of sucking at life today. I went to ACL this weekend, and for any of you that know about ACL, it is a marathon music festival: 3 days and hundreds of bands. Needless to say, I am not really functioning today; it was totally worth it though. I wasn’t going to do a blog post today because I need to focus on my real job (aka my bank account is looking pretty sad). How did you land (or create) your current position? I guess you could say I found a knack for building stories and brands, instead of homes.
